    The disinformation game

    ...which I see here on a ongoing basis.

    The now popular term "disinformation" is, in my rather simplistic mind, the same thing as telling lies---a trait I have no tolerance for.

    I fully understand that I, along with this link from the NYT, will be belittled for such ignorant flaws as my geographic location et al. But for those that can actually read and think---I suggest there is worthwhile observations here. The most interesting to me, a moderate stands to be attacked by disinformation campaigns on both margins---how cute.

    Dave in the spirit of limiting disinformation, no one on this board has attacked the sources cited by other posters more than you. So if you get ribbed a little about the NYT seems to me to be fair play. But to your point I also abhor fake news aka disinformation. CNN is one of the largest purveyors of biased and fake news around. Fox news is likewise biased but not as completely dishonest as CNN. MSNBC is the cess pool wing of the DNC. Your favorite source the NYT has many talented journalists and a solid legacy. Unfortunately they have gotten so much so wrong so many times regarding Trump it's hard for me to believe anything political they publish.
    OPINION....a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.

    The NYTs has steadfastly refused to apologize for a solid two years of concentrated “disinformation (lies)” of Trump/Russia collusion. They should have led this piece starting with an abject apology before shedding tears.

    Disinformation comes from all over---and pointing to the supposed warts of only one demonstrates the danger of what is going on.

    The reality is that any source that tells lies that makes individuals "feel good" ----they are then the source of all truth for that audience. Pretty sad.

    I find your comment very interesting. I subscribe to the paper, you don't, but you are claiming a "solid two years of disinformation (lies)". I have to confess I missed that---and I will suggest you didn't get it directly from reading the paper but from your "comfortable commentators", or possibly it is your own spin.

    Allow me to add, that I don't waste my time reading articles that are primarily spin and can quickly identify those that are---but your assertion is simply not my observation. For the record, I read almost no political OP-eds in the NYT---but I do follow, very closely, the Food section and do the mini-crossword.

    On another note, the "mountain" of alleged mistakes. First, there are now only a handful of media outlets who have investigative journalists and without trying to do a focused study, my guess is that the majority of them are liberal by nature. They are also concentrated with newspapers---the cable newtainment sources are almost wastelands of this diminishing profession. Again, without having done this, I believe that those outlets who still employ investigative reporters are way ahead in reporting breaking news---while the newtainment boys and girls continue to hang around the press room waiting for a handout. It is reasonable to expect those who break the news stories have more errors than those who follow the news stories.

    At the end of the day---I'll except the warts on the NYT long before I will waste my time with the likes of "right approved" programed sources.

    Let me remind you that the editor of your favorite paper address his employees in a closed meeting - which was promptly leaked - admitting his paper’s gross concentration pumping the phony Trump/Russia collusion troll for years (“We built our newsroom around Trump/Russia...”), and then directed them to switch to the equally phony “1619 Project” (the United States was formed and based upon racism) schtick. I posted this here before but you apparently chose to not read about it.

    Dean Baquet, the executive editor of the New York Times, said recently that, after the Mueller report, the paper has to shift the focus of its coverage from the Trump-Russia affair to the president's alleged racism.

    And “yes,” I read me some New York Times same as I read lots of other crap...

    "We built our newsroom to cover one story, and we did it truly well," Baquet said. "Now we have to regroup, and shift resources and emphasis to take on a different story."

    Baquet made the remarks at an employee town hall Monday. A recording was leaked to Slate, which published a transcript Thursday...

    This revelation was covered by numerous articles at the time and a transcript was even published. Your assertion that the NYTs was not a leader, perhaps The Leader, of the Trump/Russia trope is silly. That they now bemoan “disinformation” is equally silly.
