    New offering from Ruger

Don't know much about this round but it sure looks like a stinger. Pistol is handsome and lots of capacity.

I have never fired a 5.7x28, but I know I dislike being on the same range where one is being fired. Damn! It is loud!

I've fired a few, and other than the penetrative power, for instance against body armor, I never saw the purpose of them...Ammo costs too much for just a plinker...I'd rather have a .22......Ben

I thought it was pretty well accepted that for stopping power of a pistol the key is the bigger the hole, the more the damage/stopping power. All other considerations are secondary.

True to a degree, for good reason. Big holes do lots of damage and let out lots of blood. But, the shock wave of a high velocity bullet can do massive tissue damage without making a huge entry hole.

That is why I specified pistols, and as far as I know there are no”high velocity bullets” from pistols. Correct me if my knowledge is lacking. I think the 5.7X28 is relatively low velocity.

The 5.7x28 has a velocity of 2,350 fps. Pretty darn fast.

By comparison, the .45 ACP standard 230 grain round travels at about 830 fps. With devastating results, I might add.

With the right light you can see the bullet trajectory from a .45 ACP.

From my very limited knowledge of this particular round I think you can get it in low and high velocity varieties
