Um, I would consider most of that article to be flattering comparatively speaking. I prefer the modern trying to get in to heaven Stern over the old outrageously profane Stern. Lots of people like him (and the ballzy move with XM radio paid off handsomely I think), but like I said not for everyone. I remember joking with Wray years ago about being a "south park republican". Don't know what they call it now.

Stern came to DC as the morning drive time do on the big rocker (WWDC-FM.. DC-101).. DC forced Robin Quivers on him as “the news announcer “ but she was really his straight man (woman), Robin is a Former USAF Nurse..

The two were “outrageous “ for the period but nothing like New York, his next stop.. example.. the local Fox station was going to discontinue “Leave it to Beaver” (either mid morning or after school, don’t remember, I was at work).. so he organized protests on Wisconsin Ave in front of the station (WTTG, FOX-5).. the protest marches were unheard of at that time and were totally outrageous stupid funny.. additionally Howard did a radio soap opera of The Cleavers in 1980 (aprox).. the skits had the cleavers going to a Ted Nugget concert, as a family.. Wally and the Beaver were required to wear suits.. and June disappeared into Teds dressing room for a noise private interview...

But in DC he hadn’t refined his outrageous schtick q.. some of the real Howard leaked through.. I believe that the real Howard is an introvert.. he is socially liberal and fiscally conservative.. he talks craze stuff but only does crazy as part of his “schtick “..

I think what we are seeing is real.. he has amassed so much wealth that he can make amends for offenses in his schtick.

Watching Howard over the years had me thinking that some of our “talk radio” pot stirrers are really just saying schtick.. they are singing a song that sells..

Just my opinion, I could be wrong

Howard on Peter Green Show. Peter was Howard’s competition on the big Soul station.. Peaty Green show was on just before Saturday Night Live.. vid is of poor quality.. but a local classic

I've never heard either one of them I've never even heard a whole Rush broadcast, all for the same reason.

Given a choice, I would listen to Stern over Rush almost every time. What has happened to me?

What does it say about us that one or the other - Rush or Stern - is the single most heard human spoken word voice in human history?

Now I’m waiting for Rush to drink the same kool aid as Howard and start wanting to sing Koom-by-ah with both sides of the aisle..

It’s all schtick.. singing a song that sells...

It says a whole lot. I feel lucky to have been able to listen to both -Rush on my desktop at work and Stern on satellite radio here in the mountains. Amazing. I am also fascinated by people who are able to create a fortune out of thin air. Crazy times we live in.
