carried a toddler half a mile in Alaska terrain

A 5-year-old carried a toddler half a mile in Alaska terrain after being left home alone, police say
Poor kid must have been scared to death to do that and I'm thinking had been home alone for a while that night. Sad! It would be interesting to know where the mom had been, I think.

A happy yet sad story. Good on the kids; a five year old is darn near a toddler to me.

BUT, I can't help but think that this would be like my kids walking to the neighbors house. Something wrong with my brain I guess?

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
