    Good one,, Dave.

Frankly, what I remember about the movie was Dolly Sharp. I thought she carried the movie Deep Throat much more than Lovelace did, in my opinion.

You have now exposed my ignorance

When I get a chance, I will tell a personal story about "chasing Ms Lovelace"

    OK---here we go.

Back when that movie and the star were seemingly household names and I was in a former life---I was building a bridge east of Harrisburg.

It was winter, the job was mostly shut down and I opted to haul the steel myself. The fabricator was in Cleveland. On one of the trips my wife rode along.

Coming east on I-80 in western PA I started talking to another driver who was ahead of me and we started a "virtual race". I was max'd out at about 82,000# and I could gain on him on the down hills but he would gain on me on the uphills. Luckily my wife was sound asleep in the sleeper. Our banter continued for some time with no advantage for either when a woman's voice broke in---you guessed it---her handle was Linda Lovelace

She converted our "virtual race" into a "virtual chase". It wasn't long before our three way banter had blossomed into a whole convoy of admirers. She was sly enough to avoid being seen by any of the chasers and kept us on the string all the way to the Susquehanna River at MM 215 where she got off.

We never did get a look at her--and I never did catch the orginal target---but we chewed up a couple hundred miles of PA hill country in a seemingly short period of time.

As it turned out my wife woke up during this "exchange" but never said a word until it was over---at which time she pronounced us all as acting like naughty little boys.

When I joined the DA’s office in Abilene, Tx. right out of law school in 1969, Deep Throat was making the rounds and the office was contemplating some species of lewdness charges against the local art theater owner for showing the film. This was mandatory in a community, which was the center for the Church Of Christ and was home to its chief university. I have to admit to several evidence viewing sessions with lots of consultation amongst the lawyer community. I can’t quite remember the final resolution on that seminal event in jurisprudence, but I think it was contemplated to death.
