Pensacola Shooting Suspect Identified as Saudi Training at Air Base

A member of the Saudi Air Force training at a U.S. Navy base in Florida is suspected of killing at least three people and injuring eight, in a shooting that is being investigated as potential terrorism, authorities said.

The shooter, who used a handgun, also died during the incident at Naval Air Station Pensacola early Friday, Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan said at a news conference. Officials said they aren’t looking for any other assailants.

“I believe we can safely call this an act of terror, not an act of workplace violence,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R., Fla.), whose district includes Pensacola, said in a local TV interview. He said the Federal Bureau of Investigation is taking over the investigation.

At a White House event, President Trump called the shooting “a horrible thing” and said “we’re getting to the bottom of it.” Mr. Trump said on Twitter that King Salman of Saudi Arabia “called to express his sincere condolences” and to say the Saudi people are “greatly angered by the barbaric actions” of the shooter.

Two deputies who responded to a 6:51 a.m. emergency call were shot, one in the arm and one in the leg, during an exchange of gunfire with the shooter. They are being treated for their injuries and are expected to recover.

Escambia County Deputy Sheriff Chip Simmons said the department’s deputies “neutralized the threat in short order” upon arrival.

As facts begin to develop it seems that a number of his Saudi Brothers were collected to film the incident. As much as I would like to think otherwise I think these are probably radicalized Saudis.

..and exactly were did those facts come from?

I didn't mention this yesterday because I didn't have the answers at that point. We have family stationed at Pensacola. I learned shortly that they are both OK. He was off flying and his wife was at home.

Warning.. following link is from a known “ biased news” source.. different and more serious bias than Fox vs. NYT. Shields up!,

    https://on.rt.com/a6pj

But.. these biased sources don’t usually blatantly lie.. usually, basic facts are correct, they just spin things more than out media.

Al Jazeera often has leads or information not mentioned in US news, offering points to investigate.. Al Jazeera had nothing more on Pensacola than US news.. But, Al Jazeera is an excellent source for news about the war going on in Central Africa Republic, we’ll excellent compared to almost nothing from US news..

    From the NYT:

But other Saudis on base were questioned.

Six other Saudi nationals were detained for questioning near the scene of the shooting, which took place over two floors in a classroom on the base. Three of the Saudis who were detained had been seen filming the entire incident, according to a person with knowledge of the investigation.

It was not known whether the six Saudis detained were students in the classroom building, and there was no immediate indication that those filming the incident were connected to the gunman, the person said.

X% of Muslim are Jihadis and X% are not. The problem is that you never know which ones are which.

So three Saudis followed him throughout the incident filming it and weren't fired at, I assume that because they never stopped filming. But there was no indication that they were connected to the gunman. Jesus Christ we're training them how to kill us and letting them practice at the same time! The connection is they are muslim and they want us dead.

An extract from this morning's WSJ:

The gunman at a Navy air base in Florida played videos of mass shootings at a dinner with other Saudi aviation students the week of the deadly attack, a person briefed on the investigation said Saturday.

One of those students was apprehended at the scene of the shooting after apparently taking videos on a phone, the person said.

It's looking more like a planned and rehearsed attack than ever now......Ben

On the contrary, it is their bounden duty and responsibility to inspire our people to willingly undergo any kind of difficulties and sacrifices for the sake of noble principles that they nourish deep in their hearts. Instead of depressing their patriotic ardor, the people should be inspired to be brave and courageous under all kinds of hardships and difficulties in defense of what they consider righteous and just. Very much so.

This is an extract from this morning's NYT:

Before Florida Shooting, Gunman Showed Off Videos of Mass Attacks

Investigators are still trying to understand the motive of a Saudi trainee who fatally shot three people at Naval Air Station Pensacola.

    Dec. 7, 2019

PENSACOLA, Fla. — As federal authorities worked on Saturday to piece together clues to last week’s attack at a Florida military training base, new details emerged about the gunman, a Saudi trainee who had apparently shown videos of mass shootings at a dinner party the night before.

Several days earlier, the gunman and three other Saudi military trainees visited New York City, including several museums and Rockefeller Center, according to a person who was briefed on the investigation but not authorized to speak publicly.

Investigators were seeking to determine whether the New York trip was a tourist excursion — foreign students often take recreational trips — or whether there were other motives. They also hoped to learn whether the group met with other people during the trip.

The 21-year-old gunman, identified as Second Lt. Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani, did not appear to have any ties to international terrorist groups, said a senior American official, who was not authorized to speak publicly about investigators’ findings.

I submit the following thrashy Brit piece as more informative than others I have seen on the subject. Note: the article relates that some Saudi fellows of the assassin are “missing” and being hunted. Also, the Muzzie’s social media posts leave no doubt about his motives.

If I had a thousand M&M's and I told you 10 of them were poison and would kill you, would you eat one of my M&M's? We know for certain through numerous painful experiences X numbers of Muslims will turn murderous Jihadi without any warning. So why are we listening to arguments to let them in amongst us willy-nilly? We don’t invite or let in people to our country we know were exposed to the Ebola virus, so why do we do the opposite to people exposed to the virulent pestilence, Mohammedanism, which has killed infinitely more in its history and continues to do so presently?

I heard the "missing" claim last night but now see nothing on it, until you brought it up.

    A little strange

A also find it ironic that a Muslim brother was one of the victims.

I wonder how much more they need before they classify this as a terrorist attack. It is also interesting that trump who is always quick to pull that trigger seems more concerned with making the Saudis appear to be both victimized and sympathetic.
