Stripping away the politics for the moment

I have not heard all the testimony or all of the witnesses to the House Impeachment hearings---but I have heard enough to feel obligated to compliment the career civil servants that I have heard. Overall they are well spoken, obviously bright and knowledgeable in their areas of expertise---and every one has conducted themselves with unquestionable professionalism.

I also have a good idea of the pay rate of many of these people---and it is obvious they are not in it to get rich

We are lucky to have men and women of this caliber serving our country.

I offer my heart felt thanks

The testimony of the bureaucrats is characterized by one similarity — they all are butt-hurt because Trump doesn’t do things the way they have always done them or take their advice.

If you are talking about their demeanor, yes, they are professional appearing...that is the job of diplomates after all, putting on airs.

They act like entitled twits. They always have. I know several and they don't know what a 40 hour work week is, they have great pensions, insurance, job security and first rate digs. The perks can be pretty good too. Working for the gov is not a bad gig if you can get it. Now before our sensitive members get verklempt I am sort of joking but not. Obviously we owe a debt of gratitude to our civil servants most of whom are well below the station of these witness' .

Ever meet anyone from EPA, MSHA, or OSHA? I can think of one agency* in goobermint (out of at least 100) who didn't treat the customers with disregard or worse. It always made me sad. i aint buying that you got exiled to Siberia because you won employee of the month.

On edit: I am changing my comment to recognize one federal agency - the Indian Health Service - as understanding their mission and their obligations. (Not commenting on their success). Other than that I know of one person who cared.

Yes. My wife and I fully agree, and would become government workers again. One thing that was not mentioned - job enjoyment. We were both amazed to get paid for something we enjoyed so much.

I never met a National Park Ranger, USFS Fire Fighter, that was an ass to the public ever.

Agreed. I think where you're more likely to find an uncomfortable situation with a government employee is places like Social Security ,courthouses and any of these other kinds of bureaucrats that sit behind desks and think they're better than everybody. Most of the emergency type people and cops and folks that work outside are generally all great people

I am disturbed by most of the "witnesses". They don't seem to have much loyalty to the government who employees them and they are far too quick to express their "opinions" as to what happened. Not what they actually witnessed, but their "opinions". The Lt. Col. was the worst of the lot, in his denigration of his commander in chief. I suspect he violated many military codes during his "testimony". I hope it comes back to him in his ousting from the military.

In all, I am extremely disappointed in the manner in which this kangaroo court has progressed. There are no rules except what Schiff wants to make. There is no rule of law, no rules of evidence. It is just a circus that I find deplorable.

Fair enough. I know some as well and see them driving around aimlessly in the woods quite frequently. I don't think of them as govt employees oddly enough. My experience is mainly with contracting or regulatory agencies. The halls I walked were lined with people who were outright hostile to hard working Americans like me.

I ran into an old USFS guy around my age way back in the woods of Az putting a sign on a cattleguard (on a 4x4 road). It was a big yellow sign warning bicyclists to use caution when crossing. That was his job for the summer.

Big government is bad for taxpayers. I suppose not so much for the others.

On edit: Hunter, for some reason I thought you were state government? I don't generally have a beef with state bureaucracies, Colo dept of revenue excepted.

I do have a beef with one particular state employee. You recall the story I put on here when the overzealous state patrol officer came to the wrong house and damn near shot me? That guy treated me like an azz.

My point isn't that all government are bad, rather that they are not all saints worty of our praise or admiration. I hope I havent offended any of you individually. Im sorry if I have.
