    What a perfect day

Yesterday that is. The sky was "Utah blue", the temperature started at 28 F and went up to 48 F.

There was very little wind and the bright sun made it feel warmer than it was.

My wife and I were on the road before 7 on the way to MD to watch the two youngest girls play important games.

The youngest, who is 9, had the final rounds for the soccer league championship. They won the first two and then lost the championship round---with heads held high. She is a very aggressive player and has scored more than 1/2 of the total goals for her team this year! She got a trophy yesterday for being the league high scorer

Her 11 year old sister plays softball. She does very well but the team not so much She got hit in the ankle with a ball yesterday on 1st base--the ankle she broke last spring. She had to sit out the second game but the swelling is down today.

It was great to watch them and cheer them on while enjoying a perfect fall day

    Sounds like a great day!

But, way too cold for me.

Such shameful behavior from the 9 year old...Just think of how much self esteem she has destroyed on the opposing teams' players...Not to mention her own team when their players don't score as many points as she does...She should be forced to share the points with all the players so nobody has to go home in shame...

    You go, girls......Ben

Sounds like a fun day you had. Congrats to the girls for their efforts. Like Mike said way to cold for me.

We had that splendid day here in San Antonio today. We put up the little prefab greenhouse for the coming winter for some of my wife’s vulnerable plants. Surprisingly, we got a couple of nights mild freezing the last days of October, which was the first freeze in that month I can remember. We usually get our first freeze in late November. Could be a portend perhaps.

No matter what plans I make, it seems that nature has other plans and first freeze - the most important day for gardeners - always catches me and the local weather forecasters by surprise.

48 degrees F sounds like a warm day to me too. We're now down in the teens at night, so the Winter tires are going on the GT today.
