Saw an article on tv about most rural ems and emts are in trouble with having almost not enough dollars to fund the system(s). While we take it for granted that they will be here when we need them, the show pointed out that if they have to make a distance run there's usually no one left to fill in and/or it's the only equipment they have since there's no backup.
Really an eye opener if you want to move to a smaller community.
