U.S. Leaves Nuclear Weapons in Turkey

"US nuclear bombs at Turkish airbase complicate rift over Syria invasion."

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...syria-invasion

It will be interesting to watch as our military attempts to get them out. And, one wonders if Trump knew about this issue. Some reports say we have 30 nukes there, others say 50.

You can bet that those points on the Turkish map are under intense satellite scrutiny right now......Ben

If it wasn't reported on Fox he didn't know squat about them

A good call, Ben. I assume, and hope, we're doing that.

It's my belief those weapons if they are there would be completely useless since the arming process is quite complex and can't be used without sophisticated coding

From what little I can determine, they're all B-61 tactical nukes, all gravity bombs, and all stored at Incirlik AB in Turkey...Unless things have changed drastically from when I worked with such devices, they'll all be stored in relatively close proximity to each other, but not just stacked together...They would probably be in hardened, underground magazines, likely in groups of four...If worse came to worse, they could be destroyed before they could be separated and moved...My guess would be a MOP delivered by a by a Northrop Grumman B-2...It would be messy, and my concern would be for the American lives still stationed at Incirlik...

B-61's are technologically over 50 years old...Our F-4's and F-105's were loaded and prepped with these in pairs 24 hours a day at the ready pad at the end of the runway on our base...The F-16's in the Turkish Air Force could easily carry them, if they have access to them...It is indeed worrisome...:...Ben

This is all Bs dug up to make the president look bad for pulling out of Syria but basically just to make the president look bad it's just more of the attack mode of what's going on. Don't believe me let's make a little bit of a bet. In 2 weeks this will not even be a story it will be like it never happened.

Yes, there is always that possibility. However, I've not seen this issue spread across different media. In other words, whomever is behind this news is probably not doing a good job of getting it out there. Frankly, if someone is trying to make Trump look bad with this news, they're not working very hard at it. I think it'll be interesting to see if this issue actually gets real world traction.

I’ve seen it numerous times. It is a concern. Anytime your nukes are in the confines of an avoid Islamic potentate like Erdogan who has expressed a desire for nukes, it should be an issue. The guy is a loose cannon. He is classic emblem of the old adage, “With friends like these, who needs enemies.” He crushed a well-formed movement in Turkey towards Western modernity and is enforcing a return to strict Sharia Muzziedom.

I think you may be onto something. I just did a search for the issue and it popped up more links than I thought it would.
