    Hey Phillbo - Thunder storm?

You know who these dudes are? They jump into Broncos stadium (I forget which corp sponsors shingle hangs out now) at the start of every game. It is one of the coolest things to see and this year we were sitting directly below where they "drop into" the stadium. It looked like they would take our heads off as they pulled up to land on the field. I wish I could post a video

On edit: I see a bunch of videos on da web but next time I have a computer out I will post one. Its been a couple months since I turned my laptop on so maybe before the end of the year.

I don't know off the top of my head but can ask around.

I have a few friends that jump demo's and they say the jumps into the stadiums are the most challenging since the winds change dramatically once you clear the seats and it's a tight profile.

There is going to be a tragedy sometime. That is crazy for little reason.

It’ll thrill them to death when one hangs up on a cross-wire with a stray puff of wind.

You have no idea how crazy it is. We had the perfect seats this time (on edit, our seats were right under the little green circle in Phillbo's link) and it was worth the entire price of admission....scratch that, it made the $11 beers worth it.

We try to catch one game a year and spring for good seats. I know we have debated pro sports here before but unless you go to one of these spectacles you really can't appreciate the magnitude of our entertainment industry. 4 hours of sensory overload. Like they say, there is a reason the NFL took Sunday away from God. I have only been to an Indy car race, but I assume NASCAR is the same thing.

Yup, if I was the insurer I would charge a hell of a lot for the 5 minute skydiving show (there are a half dozen drifting around while they make their individual rapid fire entrance). But it is top shelf entertainment! Thanks for the link Phillbo.

It's called 'Swooping'... Tons of people do it for free but a few get paid to do it.

Demo jumps are the most regulated type of jumps in the sport ( more of a business these days than a sport) and only the best and most experienced are allowed to jump them. The canopies they are flying are extremely high performance and the crew spends hours on the ground mapping out the logistics.

As to the stray puff of wind there is a crew on the ground at each jump and if conditions are not right they will call it off and they will land at an alternate LZ (multiple ones are identified and secured prior to the jump).

Demo teams take their job seriously.

Yes I remember being at WOH a few years back when the Army team was jumping military rounds, and one member got blown into the vendor area breaking his leg......Ben

I am not averse to other people taking risks, and I am merely getting my I-told-you-so’s in in early.

There were a half dozen acts on the "America's Got Talent" TV show last season that somebody could have got killed. People will pay to see people die or at least get hurt, it's big business. I don't like to see people get hurt, I don't even watch those internet videos where the skateboard kids bust their ass jumping a railing. But some of those edges of your seat shows are entertaining. I'd rather skydive then do some of the stuff the kids are doing nowadays just to get a look or a hit...view? whatever its called.
