    Out of my mail bag

Like new, and it can be yours for just over $100,000.

This is a pristine showroom condition example of the incredibly high performance 1998 Bentley Continental T. The livery is an absolutely stunning Crimson Pearl metallic, being accented with the matrix grill and chrome 18” Bentley wheels. And the Wide Body configuration built by Mulliner-Park Ward swallows the wheels and makes for an aggressive looking stance. When new this was a $325,000 hand built motorcar and only about 350 were made.

This Bentley is virtually as new, belying the fact that its 20 years old having covered a mere 24,000 miles. It has lived its life in the San Diego and Orange County, CA region from new, with only one registered owner. It would likely perform very well at concours events.

As stunning as the exterior appears, the interior we believe to be gorgeous. Displayed with soft tan leather with suede bolsters and contrasted with St James Red piping, the interior shows almost no wear. We love the wood accents rather than the engine turned aluminum in most Continental T’s. The burled walnut veneers are almost perfect. We noticed one very small imperfection only noticeable upon close inspection. This example is consistent with Bentley’s country club ambiance. We would like to see the mouton sheepskin overlays added on top of the red Wilton Wool carpeting.

The true heart of the Continental T is the engine and drivetrain. Built with the venerable Bentley turbocharged 6.75 liter V8, the T’s had 420 bhp and an incredible 650 ft lbs of torque available at only 2,200 RPMs. This provided the power to achieve 170 mph and a 0-60 mph time of 5.6 seconds. And this from a motorcar weighing more than two tons.

Everything works as it should. We completed a detailed inspection and found everything to be in proper order. We ran a CARFAX and found it to be perfect as well. This Bentley is ready to show, drive and enjoy.
For more details and information please call or text Harry Clark at +1.602.245.7200 or email us at harry@classicpromenade.com. The Bentley is available for inspection at our Phoenix showroom.

The 0 to 60 time however is a full second slower than my MB---I guess I'll stay with that.

From a very dependable source, I have heard that according to the owners manual it is not advised to drive one into a ditch---they aren't meant for such things.

Guess it's cheaper than this VW Van. http://www.classicpromenade.com/car/...microbus-1958/

This is a beautifully restored example of a real 1958 Volkswagen 23 window microbus. It's only $138,000.00

I will wager the gas mileage is terrible otherwise they would have mentioned it, and at twenty years old, no Apple connection. No, I think I’ll pass.

I believe at that age the Bentleys came off the same line as Rolls Royce autos. I met a fellow once at the Houston Jag dealer, while servicing my Jag and we discussed his Rolls that was being worked on. The Jag dealer was also the Rolls dealer. He told me all the Rolls owners in town knew each other because they all met every month at the dealer to get work done on the pitifully built things...even worse than the notorious Jags of the time and I’ll bet they all had infamous Lucas electrics. Another reason to pass. I can’t imagine the maintenance bills for hand-built cars that need a lot of it...no, wait, I had an extremely small volume Beaver motorhome that needed a lot of maintenance work. Practically everything on and in it was one-off. Never again...

Having a major contingent of Lucas in my barn now---that is a sure deterrent to consider adding this to the stable.
