    I don't understand

A little knowledgable input would be nice.

WHY does the Govt. not prefer charges against an individual just because they think there may be other/worse charges that could be forthcoming ?.

Why not charge a known minor wrong and lock someone up and then when other charges can be proven, try them for that and add prison time to the amount already given .

I’m getting real tired of seeing those in positions of power get away with things that would have you or I being bars.

It is because they don't want to lose the big case because of losing the little case. Evidence, testimony, procedures in the little case can be challenged and the little case thrown out. If the same evidence, testimony and procedures are to be used in the big case, well that's too bed. That has already been thrown out in the little case and can't be used in the big case. Better to go after the big fish first. It also gives the state bargaining room for a lessor plea.

Okay, I can't seem to put this into the proper words just now. Maybe the legal minds here can clear it up for you.

I do not think breaking a DOJ rule or being a scumbag is a crime.

They usually drop what ever charges they think will be hardest to prove if they can't plead them out. Thw lessor charges don't give out enough time or punishment but it gets a conviction. It also shows why the cops can't get amything done.
