    ----and nobody whines

I find hypocrisy as one of the most shallow of pursuits and when it comes to politics it is raised to an art form.

A few short years ago this would have generated endless criticism:

Budget deficit is set to pass $1 trillion

The gap between what the government takes in through taxes and other revenue sources and what it spends is growing faster than expected, as President Trump’s policies force the U.S. to borrow more money.

Tax revenues for 2018 and 2019 have fallen more than $430 billion short of what the Congressional Budget Office predicted they would be in June 2017, before Mr. Trump’s tax cuts were approved.

By 2029, the national debt will reach its highest level as a share of the economy since the immediate aftermath of World War II.

Details: The need to borrow has been aggravated by several budget agreements that raise domestic discretionary spending. It could increase further if the economy slows.

What’s next? The deficit will reach $960 billion for the 2019 fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30, and will widen to $1 trillion for the 2020 fiscal year, the budget office said in updated forecasts.

As I have opined many times on these pages, we, as a nation, have long decided to ignore government debt and will whip & ride this this lathered up horse until it drops.

I dare say that ten men couldn't read all the bills that we pay in a year before the next year came around. I don't know what the answer is. Keeping presidents tied up fighting court battles for years at a time doesn't work. Voting Republican or Democrat hasn't worked since Clinton. I guess we'll just crash and burn one day, sweep up the mess and maybe start another couple of countries once it's over.

The president has no funds to spend except those allocated by congress. Don't blame him for what congress decides.

Not according to trump---he is planning on allocating his own wall

In reality, he has a large influence on what is spent--even with a divided Congress---far beyond a veto.

As an example, one of his key points during the campaign was to spend tremendous amounts on infrastructure---something sorely needed---now that is a none starter--as is his fantastic new health bill.

I must add that running up the debit is trump's historical norm---in his own business he lived on other people's money. At one of his bankruptcy settlements he complained that the judge has "only" allowed him $25,000/month for living expenses---and who could live on that!

Not true, Trump is using money from Pentagon funding for the wall a process that was approved by the SCOTUS just recently.
