    You can't fix stupid

100% captains fault. At the last minute they tried to come about when it would have been easy to fall off

I believe the sailing ship had the right of way if under sail. However, the container ship would have a claim to the ROW by virtue of being loaded

That said, the Elbe could have been "dead" right.

Not unlike the game pedestrians (who always have the right of way) play---until they get nailed because someone could not stop.

Who had the ROW is not a matter to consider. The ship would have taken a mile to turn if that was an option ] or stop . The sail boat could have turned in it's own length.
Not a wise decision to play chicken with something that outweighs you by multiples of tons.

Totally agree! I dare say nobody on the container ship even heard the horn. Precautions should have been in the works or on their minds miles before they started blowing the horn. IMO

It was on a RIVER. Even if the container ship had time to avoid anything, which I doubt, would it have room?

Awesome. This makes sailing much more entertaining for me. Is that all the people huddled on the stern? I cant lmagine everyone made it out alive.

Put me down as the big boat having the row.
