Ready aim ----- hold your fire

trump has backed off his threat to impose tariffs on all Mexican imports---that is the good news and I am sure that both trump and his star struck followers will brag about this from any and every possible venue.

However, before I share their habitual blind praise, show me the results.

    Added in edit:

I have to assume, since trump says this will, in the twitter words of trump:
This is being done to greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States.
that damn stupid wall is no longer needed

You are correct in demanding results before proclaiming victory, and let us all hope you are correct that Mexico will do its job thwarting illegal passage from its country to ours obviating a need for a better barrier. I am not holding my breath, as their pols are all paid by the smuggling cartels to aide their enterprises, but with Congress seemingly content with massive illegal immigration, the president is left with only desperate and tertiary measures as an option with going forward with his signatory promise that got him elected. My own scummy Republican Rep., Will Hurd, will not even help him. We have had words to zero effect.

The childnishness and stupidity continue to grow:

    From today's NYT:

    1. President Trump hailed his new deal with Mexico to avoid tariffs. But the terms were actually agreed on months ago during secret negotiations, officials in both nations said.

As part of the agreement announced on Friday, Mexico agreed to deploy its newly formed national guard throughout the country, diverting it from domestic priorities, and to expand a program that makes some migrants wait in Mexico while their asylum claims are heard in the U.S.

It was unclear whether Mr. Trump saw these as truly new concessions or a face-saving way to defuse his tariff threat.

Yes - I seriously doubt losing one's left foot is worth a free ride into the U.S. I would think this probably happens much more than we hear about it.

The more I read about this fiasco the more it smells like a cheap reality TV script.

I never thought trump would go through with the tariff treat but even I didn't expect the sad reality which has unfolded.

There ya go reading the New York Times again! If the Administration had a deal worked out 6 months ago, why haven’t we heard about it on the pages of the MSM until today, and why is the Mexican President making speeches/interviews telling his citizens the reason he caved was because of the threat of U.S. tariffs? You don’t deal with narco-states by “pretty please.” You use force.

It would absolutely crush you TDS sufferers if you had to admit a Trump success and doubly on an immigration issue, so you make up wild tales. You’d sooner have your toenails ripped off than give him his due here...same with the MSM. Of course it still remains to be seen if Mexican promises mean anything, but you don’t have to swallow lies about how we (Trump) extracted those commitments.*

*By the same token, it matters not if Trump got the promises 6 months ago with negotiations or last week with tariff threats, he still got promises through no help from D’rats or his own party...it was all him singularly!

There you go reading your rabid right rags again!

May I remind you that your boy started the whole game with his claim of secret agreements---what a child.

If Trump cured cancer the Times and the Post, the whiners and elitists would still use it against him somehow. But when we get another Obama who basically supplies terrorist nations with nukes the new guy will be a hero. Trump is not willing to bow down it's about time we had a president that didn't. You people hate people over rumors and innuendo which is what the MSM is and you hate with a passion. The sad part is that is what our country has turned into.. and the ones that ought to know better hate the most. No room for reason or compromise, again sad, just plain sad that the ones that have the biggest voices are the biggest haters. Hate permeates one's life, I feel sorry for you guys,

    And the cheap theatrics continue:

    By Michael D. Shear

    June 11, 2019

WASHINGTON — President Trump on Tuesday waved a piece of paper that he said was part of a “very long and very good” secret agreement with Mexico, refusing to describe it but vowing that it will go into effect whenever he wants it to.

The president’s dramatic flourish, delivered as he left the White House for a trip to Iowa, came a day after Marcelo Ebrard, Mexico’s foreign minister, publicly denied that his country had reached an undisclosed immigration agreement with the United States.

To the contrary, Mr. Ebrard insisted during a news conference that Mexico and the United States had agreed to discuss more aggressive actions only if the agreements made last Friday do not slow the surge of migrants heading to the border.

“We will sit down and look at the measures you propose and those that we propose,” Mr. Ebrard told reporters.

For the second day in a row, Mr. Trump ignored that denial from Mexico’s top diplomat, insisting that his threat to impose tariffs on Mexican goods had forced Mexico to submit to an undisclosed agreement to combat what he views as an invasion from Central American migrants.

Asked by reporters to reveal what the agreement requires Mexico to do, Mr. Trump refused to do so, adding that “the reason is Mexico wants to handle that.”
I'll lean to the Mexican version----I know trump's story is BS---it always is.
