Sphere Las Vegas Project near Strip

A 320 foot tall digital sphere with resolution 100 times that of a digital plasma tv is coming - right behind the Venetian and Palazzo in Las Vegas. Frankly, I'll be one of the first to see how it works in real life.

    https://www.reviewjournal.com/busine...ct-near-strip/

I can walk to it from my condo, which is on the Strip diagonally across from the new SLS (the old Sahara). I don't know about others here, but I love these new technological advancements. We are living in a wonderful age.

If you've been on the High Roller in Las Vegas, the tallest Ferris Wheel in the world, it tops out at 550 feet. So, it's substantially taller than the Sphere. I enjoy hanging out at The Linq, where the High Roller is located, and have ridden the wheel five times thus far. Going around one revolution takes 30 minutes, and the views from the wheel are amazing. They even have "bar carts" they roll into the Ferris Wheel cabins and you get 30 minutes to drink as much as you can get down your throat.

Going from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas is a sensory shift that is magical. As many of you know, Salt Lake City has pretty much outlawed adulthood. Whereas Las Vegas is a smorgasbord of grown-up fun. I seriously can see myself living in Las Vegas permanently at some point. Interestingly, both Salt Lake City and Las Vegas have recently implemented marijuana sales to adults. Next year, Las Vegas will have marijuana lounges where you can legally consume the leafy green goodness in public. As a local with residential addresses in both cities, I aim to replace my daily opioids for pain with the natural pain remedy.

So is this an arena where events will be held?...If so, what kind?...

No way am I getting on the ferris wheel nor the rolly coaster...Contrary to my days of walking around on top of airplanes with no fear, I now have to be mindful of stepping off a curb...

I do miss my frequent trips to LV for the SHOT Shows though...It's a fun place...I still want to attend Aviation Nation at Nellis AFB sometime in the future though...My own fear of addiction will always keep me far away from the marijuana joints however......Ben

Every time we go to Vegas, Nurse Paula has to jump off the Stratosphere. I've done it a couple time but any more it bores me.

With 18,000 seats, they plan to do live concerts and media events.

The sound system is supposed to be incredible, targeted to the audience such that people sitting right next to each other will be hit by different sounds.

Ahhh… yes, my wife has jumped off the Stratosphere as well. She loved every second of it. Me, not gonna happen.

Not over powering I hope. We've seen many shows and some are loud just for the sake of being loud. Micheal Jackson ONE was almost painful. I wished I had ear plugs and we almost left after about 20 minutes. Nurse Paula is deaf in her left ear and spent the entire show plugging her right ear out of fear of doing damage. I would not recommend that show to anyone.

I have been to some of those loud shows as well - painful. Now, I take my earplugs with me, just in case.

I still prefer a good show with live music, particularly horn sections and sax. I do have some hearing loss on the high end - mainly from sitting in front of trombones, where most trumpet sections are located. Trumpet was my go-to instrument I started playing in the 4th grade.

Not to be negative---but IMHO they f***** up a perfectly good desert when they built that gaudy dump.

Plenty of good desert still around Dave. You just need to get out of town...

Phoenix? I have a sister there. Las Vegas is hot enough for me. Believe it or not, Phoenix is even hotter.

The last time I was in Phoenix and when I returned my rental car, I looked at the thermometer under the portico and it read 118 degrees!

I hear you, Joe. Maybe it's my age showing, but I just don't do Phoenix anymore during the Summer.

    In June....

I'll admit the weather in Phx can be warm during the summer but with the monsoons cooling off the afternoons I'm good with it until Sept and by then I'm ready for it to be over. For me it's worth it for the amazing weather we have the rest of the year. You don't have to shovel sunshine
