    Brave...

Just to have another alternative browser, since I read that Chrome will be disavowing the use of ad blockers, I downloaded Brave...It's associated with Joe's favorite search engine, DuckDuckGo...I'll give it a spin, and if Chrome becomes pay-to-play for those of us who don't like ads, I'll drop them like a hot rock......Ben

Thanks for the tip, Ben. Brave had escaped my notice until you mentioned it. I downloaded it (it is compatible on Apple devices), and my brief use has douched the ads! Busy now building my bookmarks on the new browser. It is definitely faster than Safari in loading. Could be a winner.

You're welcome, Joe...On the superior Windows system, I just imported all my bookmarks and such...I don't know how it works on Satan's machinery......Ben

So far I think Brave may be a shade faster than Chrome...And I have yet to see the first ad...This is without adding any adblocking extensions...It also gives me a running total of blocked ads and trackers......Ben

Brave is now my default browser...Less than a day after install 4,148 ads have been blocked, and 144 tracking cookies...It's at least as fast as Chrome, maybe faster...It learned quickly which icons to move to the forefront for me...

DuckDuckGo sounds silly, but as a search engine does what I want...

Now all I need is a wide ranging news feed that gives me a choice of inputs and categories, and I'll drop Google News...But I'll need a much better reason to drop Gmail as it's given me everything I want in email for over ten years......Ben

I’m having some trouble with no cookies when I need them and having to sign in too much.

In Settings you can allow all, some or no cookies...I don't have any problem not having to sign in...Even the next day it knows who I am......Ben

I found one small glitch with Brave...On a certain Google product, Blogspot, I'm unable to reply to a comment even when logged in...However, I can still do it from Chrome...All other functions are glitch-free...I'm probably not holding my mouth right......Ben

Further investigation shows "Pageviews By Browser" does not list Brave even though I used it...To me this indicates that the Google product is unable to track the Brave user, although log-in and editing were accomplished from Brave...I'm almost beginning to understand, I think......Ben

I've been using Brave for eight days now with no hiccups...It lists 1,206 tracking cookies blocked and 23,355 ads blocked (I have no separate adblocking extensions active)...It also claims 311 HTTPS upgrades and 21 minutes estimated time saved although I don't know how that is calculated...I think it's just as fast as Chrome ever was...I'll continue to use it as my primary browser but I also keep Edge, Chrome and Firefox on standby in case there's ever a need...

I suppose nothing succeeds like success......Ben

I found one thing Brave won't do that Chrome will...I was trying to find a link to buy the t-shirt Triguy posted in C&C...In Chrome I can right click the image and Google image search will find it, but DuckDuckGo does not have that feature...So I re-opened Chrome, logged into the CB and found the link I was looking for...Now back to Brave......Ben
