    2-D Materials Are Propogating

The first 2-D material developed was graphene first synthesized in 2004 from single atom crystalline chains and sheets of carbon. You have probably read articles introducing us as to its many known and predicted capabilities and uses. You may even have some devices with some of it in it. Did you know material scientists have theorized hundreds of other single atom crystalline chains and sheets derived from other elements and combinations of elements? Some of these have been fabricated and are being extensively tested with the usual fantastical speculations attached to their future development. Million$ & billion$ Are being thrown at their developers to tease out the glorious qualities.

We have talked much here about the need for better batteries and magical battery capacities are often speculated from these materials. Below is the latest such tease using single atom phosphorous. Makes me excited —

Amazing time to be alive. I have a son in an engineering college (soon to be two at Colorado School of Mines) and the stuff they do makes me feel dumb (but its really just lazy I think). One of his roommates is in the space mining program. For reals. Im trying to stay woke

But I have promises to keep,
