Where the deer and the turkey roam

Too close to dark to get a photo but last night the field below the barn was covered with deer and turkeys.

They were somewhat separated, with the turkeys on the south end and the deer on the north---but in the middle there was some mingling of the two. Neither seemed to be bothered by the others presence.

More commonly it is deer or turkeys, not both at the same time. The down side is that I have fox in the barn again (still?) and they raise hell with the hens sitting on nests. I need to do some fox hunting

Is he still doing his business on those Oliver tractors or did you you buy him a JD to lure him away?

Heres whats left of someones cat in my barn. Something ate Everything but the feet and left hair everywhere. I guess its a fox? I hate to think its something bigger but i look around a little more when I go in now.

I can pretty much assure you that is a fox---or possibly a coyote. That is consistent with what I see. The only thing left of squirrels is the head, feet and tails. Turkeys, the head, feet, the rib cage and 2 million feathers Rabbits, head and feet. Ground hogs---because of a nasty pair of glands behind the front legs they only eat the back half

In any event they turn the place into a ghetto while the hens are on the nest because they bring them home to dine!

As for the tractors---I have learned to flip the seats up so the insults to my seats has diminished!

Question: are wild turkeys good to eat, or, as I suspect, far inferior to domestically raised ones...not that I like turkey anyway?

Different---they are all dark meat. They are also far more muscular---the legs and wings are, at best, good for stock. The breast serves a far different purpose and as such is much smaller than the domestic variety, which at top weight, can hardly stand up much less fly.

As for the core of your question--it is subjective. I like it, my wife does not--but then moose is one of the only game animals she does like
