    Clone Extinct Horse?

This could be interesting, if they succeed.

Scientists in the Yakutsk region of Siberia have managed to extract samples of liquid blood from a 42,000-year-old foal that was found embedded in permafrost back in 2018. The scientists are hoping to collect viable cells for the purpose of cloning the extinct species of horse.

And in semi-related news, some life has been restored to pig brains four hours after death...
The Yale University research team is careful to say that none of the brains regained the kind of organized electrical activity associated with consciousness or awareness. Still, the experiment described Wednesday in the journal Nature showed that a surprising amount of cellular function was either preserved or restored.

I'm confident, during our lifetimes, we'll see some extinct species come back to life.

Me? I want to see a mammoth. I think it will be amazing.

A scientific, yet trivial, note. I've mentioned I like to go out on the Pony Express Trail for a day or two. What I have not mentioned, is some of the history associated with that act.

Some of the horses out there on the trail are very unique. For, they are descendants of horses brought over by Spaniards during the conquest of South America. The "Spanish" horses have one fewer vertebrae than a regular horse. And, if a horse is the leader of a group, it is typically a Spanish horse that is doing it.

To continue with a bit more trivia: Arabian horses have one less vertebrae in their back, one less in their tail and one less pair of ribs.

Yes, but the sequels were laughable abominations.
