    Green New Deal

In order to help A O C with getting a “ green new deal “ going I shall offer the following proposal.

Every city with a population of over 700,000 shall install at least four patrolled free parking locations near the city limits. All commuters will be required to park there and take a bus [ 15 min schedule ] Cab or other mass transport into the city.

Prices for all modes of mass transport would be mandated to be set at a reasonable amount so it is not a burden on the commuter.

Commercial vehicles in use or with a work order to pick up or deliver a load would be the only acceptable “ personal transport “ allowed.

That should make everyone happy. Less congestion, more reason to walk two blocks + better health.

    Next problem ?.

Not to side with AOC---but just as a comment on your proposal----the people in NYC are the fastest walkers in the world (that is a fact, not something I simply observed) and the use of cabs is limited---for no reason other than they are hard to get. Our guys who move around from job to job all have personal meters (fit meter) and average between 6 and 7 miles a day walking between and on jobs.

You guys go ahead. Moving to a town of 400 people, commuting won't be a problem.

Dave, I haven't been anywhere near NYC in 10 years. But, every time there is a T V shot of the City, it seams to be bumper to bumper cabs. Am I just seeing wrong or are they filming in crowded space for effect ?.

I have NO PLANS of ever getting near the City if I can avoid it.

You might be seeing a shot at the Port Authority or Penn Station---but trust me, when you want one they are already hired, off duty, or nowhere to be found.
