Not to deny what they are saying---but the distance ratings for EVs is a bit misleading.

For example, the achievable distance of an EV in winter (less than 32 F) is about 50% of what is published. Mileage for an EV is also influenced by the same driving habits as influence a conventional IC powered car.

600 miles optimum ought to be enough under most every occasion even accounting for the reduction factors to be a viable choice against range anxiety. This is encouraging.

maybe but you still need a place to plug in. My trip to Grand Teton included getting there in one day 800 miles and There are no hookups where we stayed in the park that would have allowed us to recharge

It may not be a good fit for some but that's a lot of progress in the current battery market, moving on up!

While we will never wean off of fossil fuels. I believe that any progress to aid in the reduction of their use is a good thing. If just cabs and busses could be switched over, the city air would be much cleaner for a start.

Maybe they will come up with a better system to change out the battery pack to keep the vehicle moving.

That has been the norm for years in the case of industrial EVs---like fork lifts and prime movers. The "highest" level of that is employed on driver-less EVs. The vehicle monitors battery condition and when necessary they return to the battery charging area, the charging system removes the depleted battery and slides in a fully charged one--and off the EV goes.
