Have you thought about Ham radio. I understand that it is still quite active. I know you would have to get a license but that should not be a big deal.

I notice there are combination CB/SSB radios...Would I lose anything in performance by being capable of receiving all those channels?...Would this be compatible with twin antennas?...I'm unfamiliar with SSB brands; is Guardian a good brand?......Ben

In addition to the above list, I added:
PA horn...
Extension speaker for inside the cab...
I'd appreciate any comments (other than "why is this old fool wasting his money" - we know that part) before I pull the trigger on this......Ben

I like the radio. Those look like good antenna's. Looks like that will be a nice set up.

Reminded me that Nellie Ohr applied for and then received her ham radio license on 4/23/2016 precisely when she was hired by Fusion GPS to obtain Russian dope on Trump. Ham radio is a perfect way to bypass surveillance and records if you want to deal with the evil Rooskies.
Not much to do with this thread, but an interesting fact.

I'd look around for what truckers use. Truckers radio repair etc... Maybe even call a couple of truck stops. I know some have their own repair facility's that also do the tweaking etc... Late eighties I got a CB to help with traffic and cops, just listened for the most part. I got rid of it along with the truck, it was somewhere in the late 90's but like you got the urge to put another one in the current truck. I did but it was a waste of time and money, not sure where the truckers went but they don't use them like they use to, here in SC anyway. They may have just changed channels but I hink it had more to do with the trouble makers playing music on channel 19, wanting to start fights/aruments, it wasn't even fun to listen to anymore.
