    First for me

While out for lunch I saw a "new" SUV---at least for me.

It is not unusual at all to see a Bentley around here but this was the first SUV. I read an article recently about Maserati looking to do the same to pump up sales. I don't understand it frankly. If I wanted (and could afford either) I would not be thinking about going off road with it

Very few SUV's are taken off road. Land Rovers are the SUV of choice around here and I never see a dirty one.

I remember buying my first Jeep Wrangler some 20 odd years ago to pull behind my motorhome, so I could do a bit of off-roading, when an opportunity presented. My first trip with it was close with a park in Texas, and off I went off-road. I got about 2 miles into the rough and promptly punctured a tire on a Mesquite thorn and was brought back to reality. What the Sam Hill good is an off-road vehicle if it can’t survive a bush thorn with impunity?

Speaking of uber expensive SUV's this one is set to become the most expensive American made vehicle ever.

Yeah, I have a hard time thinking of taking some of these uber-expensive SUVs off road myself. When I've got a new Jeep, I usually wait several months before I'm ready to take it to Moab (where the White Rim trail is one of my favorites).

The last time I was down there I took a J-8 pickup I had made for me in Virginia. It was supposed to be wild and crowded out on the trail, but it rained the night before, which scared off most fans, and only three people (including me) went on the run. It was absolutely one of the best times I've ever had down there.

Lamborghini is also in the SUV business again after a brief flirt with its first V-12 version back in 1988. The 2019 Lambo Urus is set to sport 641hp in its 4900lb, 189mph body. Get your order in early —
