    The Unnamed Generation

I keep seeing references to various generations of Americans, but find them somewhat confusing, so I looked up definitions. A problem I found is that none of these cover my generation (born 1943). I guess I am in the unnamed pre-Babyboom generation. The Old Coot generation? Not quite old enough to be the Depression Generation.

    Definition of baby boomer
: a person born in the U.S. following the end of World War II (usually considered to be in the years from 1946 to 1964)

    Definition of Generation X
: the generation of people born in the 1960s and 1970s

Definition of Millennial (aka Gen Y)
: a person born in the 1980s or 1990s —usually plural

    Definition of Generation Z
:anyone born in 1997 and after is a part of this new and emerging generation, aka Gen Z, while anyone born between 1981 and 1996 is considered a millennial.

Yo, Joe, We are the same age. You must be silent.

    5. What are the primary generations today?

Currently, five generations make up our society. Each of those five generations has an active role in the marketplace. Depending on the specific workplace, the workforce includes four to five generations. Here are the birth years for each generation:

Gen Z, iGen, or Centennials: Born 1996 – TBD
    Millennials or Gen Y: Born 1977 – 1995
    Generation X: Born 1965 – 1976
    Baby Boomers: Born 1946 – 1964
Traditionalists or Silent Generation: Born 1945 and before

Just when I think the generational differences are bogus - I then watch as the behavior of my nieces and nephews amazes me. They are so different from us in their attitudes and beliefs. They aren't wrong, just different.

I am the proud Dad of three millennials. Saying they are different is putting it lightly. The two girls are more so than the boy. They approach the game of life so much differently than myself. The main difference I see is that they are not motivated by obtaining a home or great career. Instead they are motivated by what makes them happy. Their comfort is of utmost importance. They love to have a cause de jure and it changes early and often. Like Ute said above they are not wrong, just different...........REAL different. My one Gen Z is career motivated and hard working. Could care less about social issues, he is all about making the payments on his big ole truck and keeping the GF happy. Who knows................And for the record they were all "raised" the same way.

Think about this... Your grand kids may never own a car.

They may never own anything. They like to rent. Therefore there is no long-term responsibilities. I read an article that a lot of Real Estate Investors are looking into making rental home communities because they believe that the Millennials will opt to rent instead of buying so the first time they are upset or become unhappy about the neighborhood they can simply move. I hate to call them snowflakes but if the shoe fits wear it
