    Stealership ripoffs

VW wanted $200+ to change the fuel filter on the Golf TDI. Hello that's a $70 filter and the time it took me to unscrew 5 torkhead cap screws, pull the filter, drop in a new one, fill the canister with diesel and replace the lid and capscrews...maybe 10 minutes and it's not like the damn thing is tucked away, It could not be easier to get to. Its under the flat cap with the 3 hoses that I am pointing to.

Maybe I should unfold my tent next to the guy who fixes windshield stars and offer to change VW diesel fuel filters for $125 per.

My mechanic only charges me $130.00 to change 2 fuel filters on my powerstroke.... I'd do it but the one on the frame rail is messy and I don't want to stink like fuel.

How dare you impugn the sweet aroma of #2 diesel by characterizing it as stink!...Some of us use it as aftershave as well as a condiment on our scrambled eggs......Ben

Yeah, when I bought my Lexus it came with complimentary service for the first 20k. They were absolutely great. On time, car returned spotless. I thought to myself I might just continue to use them. On the last free service I saw some Lexus OEM windshield wipers for 19.99. I thought that was a good deal and asked the service advisor to slap me a pair on when they finished the service. They did and they also charged me 25.69 labor to install the 19.99 wipers. Greed. It's been over a year and I have never been back and never will unless it is a warranty repair.

My Lexus dealers always gave me free rental cars if I could not wait. That had to worth something.
