    Bacon Fat

I use bacon fat/grease in some recipes we prepare...mostly cornbread...but do not cook much bacon anymore. Because we do not render much bacon fat, I looked around to see if anyone sells it and found what I need from good ‘ol Amazon.

Unfortunately, the container is commercial size (1 gallon) and will last for the rest of my life even after I bottled some up and gave portions to my friends & relatives. The rest goes into the freezer. Incidentally the product come filtered. I did notice another smaller container of 11oz. now shows up on Amazon.

I share your attraction----I love to use it in making my breakfast. Since we have been making wedge salads on a more regular basis I have a small ongoing supply from making the bacon bits.

I do the bacon in the oven on parchment paper. I save the bacon fat in the refrigerator and about the time I run out it's time to bake more bacon. Does wonders for fried eggs.

For information only. This is a ONE SOURCE statement. Others may differ.

Like all fats, bacon grease will eventually spoil, though if stored properly, this won't be for quite some time. Refrigerated bacon grease will stay good in the refrigerator for up to six months, and can be used in place of butter or cooking oil in many dishes.

Yes - that's what I do as well. I'd like to say it's about my health - but it's not. I'm simply doing what my parents always did.

I'd like to say I've moved on with my own life but, in reality, I become more and more like my parents with every passing year.
