Representative Steve Scalise on Gun Control

Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing Wednesday on new gun control legislation Democrats plan to push on the American people. The top Republican on the committee, Doug Collins, R-Ga., asked committee Democrats if I could testify about this legislation in an appropriate setting to offer another perspective as both a survivor of a shooting attack and strong supporter of our Second Amendment rights. But the Democrats said no. While liberals may try to silence conservative voices, I will not be silenced. The American people deserve to hear all perspectives. Here is the testimony I planned to give:

The leftist don't want us to have guns. It will make it easier on them when they really start taking our freedoms. In my mind the 2nd Amendment contemplated EXACTLY the type of situation brewing with these leftist so that the people could be armed and defend their rights. Antifa anyone?...........................

Too bad he didn't come up with some ideas to prevent the gun violence. Just a rehash of stating the same old tired arguments. Same with try to take guns away from people.

Like Ben's picture the other day about weapons and ammo, there seems to be enough to go around.

If the mayors of many of our cities were as concentrated on stopping the escalating gun violence in our cities as they are preoccupied in protecting illegal citizens from the federal law something might change. But you know priorities are priorities.

If they ban guns we lose. There are not enough people out there to fight against the federal government for our rights. Bang your dead. The Bundys being the latest example! The government will make more examples from their desks if need be.

Gun violence is a terrible problem in this country affecting millions of people. Not having ready access to any arms and being defenseless against a potential totalitarian regime affects ALL people as the sad Venezuelans lately and many others throughout history learned too late. That was and is the reason for the 2nd Amendment. May it survive strong and enforced.
