I have seen several articles saying the Chinese are advanced in developing similar weapons. These things would be very cheap, as these things go, to maintain and fire.

So much of it seems like kids playing.
Case in point---the Chinese built artificial islands in the South China Sea and created much debate and I imagine concern in many. Aircraft carriers are commonly noted as "obsolete" since they represent easy targets--sitting ducks as it were. How long does anyone think it would take to blow up those islands--and they aren't moving!
Am I suggesting we stop playing the game---obviously not.

There was a show on history channel "Lost and Abandoned" something like that. They did a segment on rail guns that we developed decades ago. They showed five or six of them that are still mounted and rusting in place from the Bahamas to Canada. They were big enough to put stuff into orbit but just weren't feasible. The US ended up paying for a bunch of houses that pretty much got destryed by the recoil vibraction, and that was just to get stuff into orbit. 1150 mile range will definitly need modernising to overcome that opposite and equal computation.
