I remember reading that---I was happy to have not been involved

The temperature in Adelaide made news (I believe) because it was a record high for them.

We have semi-accurate temperature records in some locations going back maybe 150 years on a planet 3,500,000,000 years old and people glibly talk about “records,” as if they have great meaning. I guess all of you are aware that this pleasant reprieve of this 10,000 year Holocene humanity has been enjoying from the frigid ice ages of history is past due to cease, right?

Little touchy on the subject of climate change are we

After you've brought up Adelaid twice because I was watching a golf tournament there and heard that it was 89. "But it's no big deal" Must have been a recorded tournament or their weather service sucks.

I think it was a Tennis tournament in hindsight but it was in Adelaide and the weather was 89 degrees, according to the announcer.

I'm confused---I'm not arguing with anything you said. Did you miss #14? The 116F occurred the previous week.

If you want a golf tournament to watch.. the Phoenix Open is the Greatest Show on Grass and is on now.... I use to go every year on Saturday but have grown tired of mingling with 170000 of my closest friends.... It's become a real poser fest.

It was predicted to rain this week but has not. I prefer the world to see the sh!tty weather we have to put up with over the winter so everyone will stop moving here.

Phoenix Open is quite unusual and famous for its one short par three hole (16th?) at which it has become institutional to surround the players with tens of thousands of rowdy fans screaming, jeering and cheering as they try to play and make a living. Not even close to the usual accommodating and courteous crowd encouraged & controlled in golf tournaments. If they hit a bad shot (which is what the crowd came for and wants), the player is going to hear about it instantly. The players seem to take it for what it is — rare good fun in front of drunken paying louts in the sun.

The players just look at the current amount of prize money now being given out and consider it all good.
