Thinking about the original post in this thread and a pickup that has 400 HP and 1000 lb ft of torque makes me reflect on my younger days.

After my father sold the dairy herd he went full on into the trucking business--something he had been doing part time to supplement the farm income. We hauled mostly produce and also pulled for Lehman Chemical Tank Line--mostly hauling bulk cement.

At the time the max legal load in the NE was 60,000 lbs. There was an overage allowance that brought the weight up to about 62,000 pounds.

We did that with White 3000's sleeper cabs with the most popular engine at the time, Cummings NH220 which put out 220 HP and 444 lb ft of torque. They had 10 speed Road Ranger Transmissions.

    Things change!

I really like the styling of the cab forward design, and thought seriously about buying a more modern version, the closest being the Class 4, 5 and 6 Isuzu, also re-branded as Chevrolet and GMC...But I never found one that suited me exactly...
