You Texas boys best pay attention

-----because you too may turn blue

    From today's WSJ:
    By Dan Frosch
    Nov. 20, 2018 5:30 a.m. ET

HOUSTON—An energized Democratic electorate wasn’t enough to defeat Texas Sen. Ted Cruz this month, but in the state’s most populous county, it created a blue landslide.

Nearly every Republican in Harris County, home to Houston, was unseated on Nov. 6, including 59 judges and the top executive, Ed Emmett, a moderate who won in 2014 with 83% of the vote.

Mr. Emmett, whose official title is county judge and who was widely lauded for steering the county through the devastation of Hurricane Harvey last year, lost to political novice Lina Hidalgo, a Democrat who said she has never previously attended a meeting of the Harris County Commissioners Court, which she will soon oversee. The 27-year-old won by less than 2% and will now help run a metro area that encompasses some 4.6 million people, the third most populous county in the U.S.

The Harris County election drew national attention in part because 17 African-American women, all Democrats, won judgeships, a symbolic shift for one of the nation’s most diverse cities. But it also demonstrates the growing political divide between more liberal cities and conservative rural areas that is evident even in red states like Texas, where every elected statewide official is a Republican.
Below is the current results map for my county in PA---a county that not many years ago was solid red. I live in the extreme upper left corner (Upper Hanover Twsp)---and the blue tide is still rising.

If they can’t convince ‘em, they import ‘em. We’ve known for years what’s coming from across the border because we are on the front lines. Did you?

I am intimately aware of the difference of Democratic judges from Republican judges and am glad I no longer am in the system that has to suffer from the radical (good word!) change in Harris County placing them in charge of all the benches both civil & criminal.

Our blue tide has nothing to do with integration--it is pure politics.

It’s like watching a spreading plague incubated in the big cities coming to consume you. Call it the Liberal pestilence.

FWIW, Montgomery County is the richest in PA.

Without changes in the GOP, the spreading plague has nothing to stop it.

Harris County, outside of Houston, is mostly Republican. Houston is a longtime democrat stronghold for city elections. For the most part, unincorporated Harris County has managed to maintain a Republican majority in county elections. That is not always the case, as was demonstrated in this past election when the county turned blue. The same thing, to a slightly lesser degree, happened in Obama's first election.

With the non-stop influx of voters from the North East, California and south of the border, Harris County may remain blue. Fortunately, Ben and I live in the reddest of the red counties just north of Harris County.

So, tell me why we should be worried about the rainbow wave? You have a problem with LGBT types? Maybe you are a little homophobic? No other reason to bring it up!

Wow Fred, you went way out on a limb for that crack. For your info the sheriff of Dallas was an lesbian and nobody had a fit. Seems like it affects you quite a bit.

As far as blue, has any of you seen the district that that moron Sheila Jackson Lee commands? It is a dump to say the least. Mexican and black voters seem to think that they will be getting more handouts if they vote Dem. That is no secret. Hey Fred Austin, which is the Texas capital is as liberal as they come. Has been for years.

The blue wave will stop when the people find out that the promises made by the Dems for their vote will bring them nothing. They should at least get a tour of the fancy neighborhoods their representatives get to live in off of the taxpayers dollars they send them. They still live in squalor and keep pulling the Dem handle thinking things will get better. If it hasn't changed any if a decade or so you would think they would get smarter and start demanding the promises be kept. Getting a free Obama phone and a pair of Nike's is not what I would call "living the rich life".

You could not be more wrong James---and if that is the "thinking" of the core of the GOP this tide will continue to roll in.

Just for giggles---apply that claim to Orange County CA, Vermont, my county, the suburbs of Washington DC and endless other suburban areas----I could go on but I know I'm just wasting my time
