100th Anniversary of Signing of the Armistice World War I Ends

Yea 100 years ago today, I'm sure it's posted somewhere but I didn't see it. Another horrid chapter on what men are capable of.

Everyone knew ahead of time when the cessfire was to commence, yet I read where the Western commanders ordered senseless attacks across no man’s land the day of the Armistice, which resulted in mass deaths and wounds of our troops and the enemy. Insanity...

That was a lot more detailed than what I had read. 11000 soldiers died after everybody knew the war was over basically because of the egos of the men in charge.

Indeed, Armistice Day exceeded the ten thousand casualties suffered by all sides on D-Day, with this difference: The men storming the Normandy beaches on June 6, 1944, were risking their lives to win a war. The men who fell on November 11, 1918, lost their lives in a war that the Allies had already won.
I think you said it best, Insanity!
