Wonder if Joe saw the news about 90%

More than 90% of migrants from the first Central American 'caravan' passed asylum interview
    Now the wait for:

The long wait to appear before an immigration judge is due to the logjam of 732,730 accumulated court cases. A credible fear referral does not mean approval of an asylum status, but is rather just the first step in a lengthy process. But it does earn the applicant entry into the United States, as well as temporary work permit while their case is being adjudicated.
Oh well the wait and see about it.

And I hope Tx will explain what happened with the other 10%.

10% were so stupid they could not memorize the secret words, “I be scared of - - -,” their handlers fed them. And that’s the whole point, Fred, any nitwit can pass the rudimentary “test” to get in, get immediately released and go hide. What are the percentages of those who are dumb enough to show up for the Immigration Court hearing and press an asylum claim and make it stick?

The ones that filled out the papers were the ones that did not cross the first bridge into Mexico. If you remember a few filled out the paperwork so they could be legal, of sorts. I doubt the ones already in Mexico had any interest in filling out paperwork.

What has me really concerned about this "caravan" is the results of my review of dozens of news videos from the area. I have seen with my own eyes caucasians in reflective vests guiding the "immigrants" along and directed them along the path and also urging them along when they busted the fences down in Mexico.
OPINION....a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.

Did those reflective vests happen to have the initials UN on them? Just wondering.

This article provides some incite on what actually happens as the asylum process proceeds —

    https://www.washingtontimes.com/news...asylum-system/

Some historical statistics are included —

...America’s immigration courts are busy places. The Center for Immigration Studies reported in May that there were 697,777 pending cases before immigration judges or about 2,090 per judge. In 2017, about 170,000 cases were completed. Of those, 9,840 were asylum proceedings, such as Mr. Moreno‘s, of which one-third were denied. Thus, the odds are an appliance will win legal status...
Interestingly, apparently the burden of proof at the formal hearing is upon the applicant to prove his/her refugee qualification, not on the Immigration authorities to disprove it.
