    Update

    I just got back from a visit with my surgeon-----and apparently he likes me because he is going to go at me again on Monday

    I still have an open area on the side of my leg which is 7" long x 3" wide and 1/2" deep that is not closing up as hoped and so Monday he is going to do a skin graft. He is going to take the "patch" off my left leg and put it on my right leg. I will likely be in the hospital all of next week unless things go exceptionally well.

    Once my leg is healed I have one more operation for my heart to insert the filter---then I should be good to go

    That brings back some memories for me Dave. Had a skin graft done 30 + years ago to close a gaping wound on my arm where my pickup truck rolled over it. They took the skin off of my left thigh, probably 2 inches wide and about 6 inches long. Arm healed just fine, but the spot where the took the skin took forever to heal. I hope you are back to running marathons in no time. Heal quickly.

    I think that would be a correct statement. If this is too gross feel free to delete it.

    This photo was taken after the second surgery. The red tube to the left was a catheter that ran deep in my leg down to my ankle. They would irrigate it every hour with 150 ml of saline solution--which would shoot out all over. The yellow tubes were drains.

    I look at that and then understand why they were talking about just taking my leg off

    Obviously, I am glad they didn't have to do that. I was blessed to have a top notch trauma surgeon working on me. I have come to love the guy
