The question keeps being asked: who has something to be gained from sending a series of fake bombs to prominent Democrats days before an election?

I guess it could be a rogue Republican nitwit, but...
Time’s awasting on running the responsible party(ies) to ground.

Once they figure out the who, we can get the why?

As this whole thread started with the blaming of a "patriot" for this bunch of phony bombs being sent to Soros and it has expanded. It has gotten to the point where I think it is a big joke, done by the Dems themselves to try and make Trump look bad. Here is a story where it has been said that none of them have gone off, and even a few of them would have no chance at exploding.
The CNN package arrived by mail at a screening facility in Midtown Manhattan before it was delivered by courier to CNN's offices, an official said. The package wasn't screened because it was relatively small.
The devices were poorly made, and some couldn't have exploded, but it's unclear whether that was intentional or whether they were just badly constructed, officials said. They said that some of the bombs had substantial flaws, that some had subtle flaws and that some had yet to be examined.

The report I read said a few of them never had any chance of detonating and the rest have not been examined. Any bets that when all of them are finally tested the report will come back that none of them ever had any chance of exploding and were never intended to have any chance of doing so, yet the dufus governor of New York has called out his National Guard for God knows what?

Well Cuomo and company have no clue as to what they are doing at any given time during the day. How people could elect him as well as "de Bozo" is beyond me, but then again, I am, thank god, not a New Yorker. Speaking of such, since this whole thing, IMHO, is to make it look like the Trump folks are sending these "presents" out to his enemies. f that be the case why didn't the most popular of the Trump hate list get a whole mess of them? The NYT should have received theirs by now, wouldn't you think?

ANyway, I think this is all nothing but another bad plan that the left has come up with to make the Trump admin out to be the GOAT. Two weeks before an election the left needs badly to win, their worst nightmare immigration fiasco is coming from the south and dominating the news, their candidates are not making the splash they have been talking about and the numbers of voters in early voting are record setting, and so as a last ditch effort to get some attention they mail themselves bombs that won't explode. Sounds like the rest of their plans, ill conceived and non working.

It occurs to me that despite my efforts to stay current with these stories I have failed at that since I don't have enough information to make a determination of the source of these packages---are they from the right or the left---or even the center---are they poorly made or intentionally stable---and on and on.

That said, despite the in depth knowledge of those of you commenting on these issues I have to ask-----would you be doing the same silly dance if these were being sent to Trump and trump's minions?

    I think not.

Dave, the left rains "bombs" on him and his people on a daily basis. They might not be a piece of plastic with a couple of wires stuffed in them, but just as harmful if not worse, since the Trump attacks actually caused damage, where the fake bombs do nothing.

You did start out this thread by saying it was a "patriot" that did it to begin with. I am glad to see you have now started to think outside of what the MSM is trying to brainwash you into.

James-----there was a reason that I put patriot in quotation marks

Well they caught the asshat in Florida this morning, I guess we will find out who and what he is at 2:30 ET during the press conference. Glad this drama is over.

Wow a 50 year old male from New York with priors for terroristic threats. Whoda thunk it, guess that leaves the beer swilling bubbas out of it.

Your trail of logic from one sentence to the next leaves me amazed

There are mentally unstable persons on both sides and in the middle. Whichever he is, it does not; does not, reflect the stance of the party he is associated with.

To say all Trump supporters agree with his actions is an ignorant assumption on the part of those who believe that. I have said the same about the individual who shot the Republican Rep.
