Trump needs to instate one of those presidential edits akin to Marshall law for when they get here. Or maybe just ship them all to Guantanamo Bay to await trial.

If you can not stop them, you can sure jail them as soon as they get across the line.

Gitmo would sure be a good spot to sort through the chaff. Then we could just release them to Cuba.

Sorry...all out of facilities to house arrivals, which is why we long since started dumping them on the streets with a promise to appear.

What about all those dreaded FEMA camps and stockpiles of caskets we were hearing about a few years ago?

Sheriff Arpio needs a job, have him build a tent city right inside the border and keep them there until we can sort them out. That is how "real" refugees are handled overseas.

    What Is Illegal Entry?

U.S. immigration law actually uses the term "improper entry," which has a broad meaning. It’s more than just slipping across the U.S. border at an unguarded point. Improper entry can include:

entering or attempting to enter the United States at any time or place other than one designated by U.S. immigration officers (in other words, away from a border inspection point or other port of entry)
eluding examination or inspection by U.S. immigration officers (people have tried everything from digging tunnels to hiding in the trunk of a friend’s car), or
attempting to enter or obtain entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or willful concealment of a material fact (which might include, for example, lying on a visa application or buying a false green card or other entry document).

(See Title 8, Section 1325 of the U.S. Code (U.S.C.), or Section 275 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (I.N.A.) for the exact statutory language - http://www.uscis.gov/laws/immigratio...ationality-act.)
    Criminal Penalties for Improper Entry

For the first improper entry offense, the person can be fined (as a criminal or civil penalty), or imprisoned for up to six months, or both. This is considered a misdemeanor under federal law (18 U.S.C.A. § 3559).

For a subsequent offense, or a reentry (or attempted reentry) after exclusion or deportation, the person can be fined or imprisoned for up to two years, or both. (See 8 U.S.C. Section 1325, 1326, I.N.A. Section 275, 276.) This is considered a low-level felony under federal law (18 U.S.C.A. § 3559).
Don't see much they can do under the law if they attempt to cross a border point and claim amnesty.

As for the Tx's idea of face planting them that makes as much sense as face planting you for driving over the speed limit. Zero.

    As for the fine:
    Civil Penalties

Entry (or attempted entry) at a place other than one designated by immigration officers can carry civil penalties instead of or on top of criminal penalties. The amount is at least $50 and not more than $250 for each such entry (or attempted entry); or twice that amount if the illegal entrant has been previously fined a civil penalty for the same violation. (See 8 U.S.C. Section 1325, I.N.A. Section 275.
    Oh to be so afraid.

I still say document them, fingerprint them and background check, and if they pass then offer them a SS card and a work permit. No benefits until they are a citizen. Think of all the black-market Bs of phony SS cards/work permits out there gone in one place. Besides who's going to pay for your SS later in life?

So, you are inviting criminals into our country. That's what they are, Fred, criminals as soon as they make improper entry into our country. To me that means they are of low moral value and likely to commit more crimes while they are here. We already have plenty of criminals as it is.

Maybe I shouldn't complain - they are job security for people in my line of work!

What if they do not pass muster, Fred, or, as is more likely, cannot be checked? The law, as I understand it, says they still get to stay until a formal court hearing. That’s why I say that law needs changing — something your side is loath to even entertain because they are potential votes. If you can’t persuade those here, import ‘em.

The part about “checking out” a person from, say, interior Honduras, while they are standing there, Fred. The how you do that is the part I missed you telling us. Next, I missed what you do with someone who fails such a miraculously administered test. You forgot to fill us in on that too.

I’ll tell ya whats’s going to happen. I have seen the pictures of the on coming horde. 99% of them are 20 - 35 year old males. BUT, I’ll be willing to bet that when they get to the border, the front ranks will be nothing but women and children, if they can find enough of them.

High pressure water cannons is the answer. Float them back to Honduras.

You've many a good point! There has to be some way to stop and or detain them though. James mentioned that another caravan was being put together as we speak. Central America has a population of about 60 million people. 1% is over a million and a half people. We simply just can't let whoever is setting up these caravans continue, well we can't stop them but we need to stop that much immigration at one time. Judging from the workforce we have in the south we could use 1 1/2 million or so workers but not a bunch of sponges and gang members.
