Just for you Mike---I found this article in today's NYT very interesting as I am sure you will. Enjoy!

Thanks Dave. Interesting article.
An update on my education about Rye.
For the past several weeks, my Rye of choice has been Templeton's 6 year Rye. It is simply amazing to me. Each time I pick up a new bottle of Templeton's I also get a bottle of a different brand for testing. I have now tried Knob Creek and Bulleit. They are both very nice but at the price point I would go with the Bulleit. Neither beats the Templeton's 6 year except in price.
Sometime I will post what I've learned about where a lot of it is really distilled. Most of you may be surprised.

Damn Mike that stuff 91 proof I was just sniffing around about that stuff can't believe it's distilled in Iowa that's intriguing I may just have to get a bottle if it's available around here.
OPINION....a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.
It has been a long while since I updated my adventures in Rye Whiskeys. Not a lot has changed, I've pretty much stuck with the Templetons 6 year old for special occasions and Bulleit 95 for the everyday stuff. There have been a few other trials that don't deserve mention.
Today, I went to pick up a bottle of the Bulleit 95 and finally broke down and bought a bottle of the Bulleit 95 12 year old. I've put this off due to the cost but figured what the hell and bought a bottle. That was a big mistake because I am going to want the 12 year old on a regular basis. It is by far the smoothest whiskey of any sort I have ever tried. It is 92 proof and I would never guess it was even half that. Really good stuff!
