    Simple acts

I got run ragged today, worked two extra hours (14 in total) and I was starving so I jumped into a little Caesars and got a 5 dollar pizza to eat while driving back to the office. On the way home from work I still had over a half of a semi edible pizza left over.

I had to make a stop at the only place in town that carry's RV TP, that hell hole called WalMart. As I got out of the car I saw this ragged looking guy digging through a parking lot garbage can. I figured he was looking for aluminum cans so I asked if he wanted one. he said no he was just trying to find something to eat.

I said come here, and we walked over to my car. His eyes lit up when I gave him that half of a pepperoni pizza. His only words were thank you sir, thank you and then he dug in.

I walked off with a smile.

Great.. I visit a Jersey Mikes on occasion for lunch and when I do I buy an extra sub and give it to the homeless that are always at the exit of the parking lot. I never give money.

I had a big portion of spaghetti & meatballs I could not finish wrapped up at an all-nighter restaurant in Philadelphia on a cold night, and I presented it to the fellow outside huddled on a grate. He did not even say thanks. I think he may have been insulted.

Had a young man sitting on a bench outside a restaurant as I was leaving ask me very timidly if I could spare a dollar so he could get something to eat. I told him if hes wanting to eat I would buy him a whole meal. His eyes brightened up and said he would very much appreciate it. So we went back inside and I got the waitress to sit him at a table and hand him a menu. He was looking at the cheap section as he did not want to take advantage of me so I asked him if he would like something better and he replied that would be fine. He order all the food he wanted and I told the waitress to bring me the check. The young man shook my hand and said thank your sir several times. As I papid the check I also made sure the waitress got a nice tip to make sure he got everything he needed.

I still go to that restaurant and the manager still remembers what I did and makes sure I am well taken care of. She is a black lady and was highly impressed that I would do that for a young black man I did not know. I told her it was because I do not see color, just a hungry man that needed a hand up.
