Looks like the East Coast may be in for a big one

Forecasts today are putting a hurricane on the coast next week. I sure hope not.

The latest forecast looks absolutely frightening. I sure hope it changes at this point it has the storm coming in sometime Wednesday evening on the Southeastern Atlantic Coast as a cat 4 hurricane. If that happens it will be the largest Atlantic hurricane in many many many years. I sure hope that doesn't happen

Looks like it's getting more dangerous by the minute seems that Northern South Carolina and Southern North Carolina are in the bullseye and it appears to be a major storm developing.

Florence is a Cat 4 as I write this and High Pressure to the north & northwest militates toward slow movement away from landfall, which likely means greater rain and higher water damage than otherwise. It you can leave, leave. Already saturated conditions up the coast portend major flooding if and when the storm moves the usual path in that direction over land.

I have a dear friend that lives on the water between Beaufort and Cherry Point in North Carolina. He may have to climb a tree.

There are a lot of fools on the RV forums asking if they should cancel their camping trips. The bigger fools are already there and asking if they should leave, or ride it out......

Latest reports have it reaching right at cat 5 strength rapidly. This has all the makings of a disaster of epic proportions.

You would not even have to ask me if I was going to leave, I would already be gone.

One fool who has already decided to stay asked if he should hook his camping trailer to his truck for safety.

Well after being pounded for an hour and a half with a hundred thirty miles an hour plus wind I think you'll get his answer. I just can't imagine why anybody would even think of being anywhere near this monster if the wind doesnt get you the water will this is going to be an epic event I wish that it wasn't but I don't see anything in my sources and the reporting that indicates is going to be otherwise

Getting notices on TV as we speak that they are closing the schools and other typical stuff starting tomorrow. I'm 100 miles off the coast.

100 miles from the coast will buffer the effects, but I can testify from experience that will not insulated from them. If worst comes to worst, and it comes ashore near you, be prepared to be without power for a couple of weeks minimum, which also means gas stations cannot pump gas even if they have any, which they won’t with all that means for transportation of you and goods you will need.
