From my reading, Sen. McCain did us one last favor. If he had resigned earlier (I forget the key date), the law would have required an uncertain election this year to fill the vacant seat, but because he did not resign and waited for his imminent death, the law’s parameters required the governor to appointed a Republican senator into the slot.Originally Posted by Phillbo
