    Tesla

I'm afraid I can't post a usable link since this is only in the WSJ at this point.

Tesla Inc.’s TSLA 0.96% tumultuous year has fueled concern among some of its suppliers about the auto maker’s financial strength after production of the Model 3 car drained some of its cash, according to industry executives and documents.

A recent survey sent privately by a well-regarded automotive supplier association to top executives found that 18 of 22 respondents believe that Tesla is now a financial risk to their companies, according to the document reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

Separately, several suppliers in interviews said Tesla has tried to stretch out payments or asked for significant cash back. And in some cases, public records show, small suppliers over the past several months have claimed they failed to get paid for services supplied to Tesla.

Tesla has improved its on-time payments to production-related suppliers to about 95% from 90% last year, according to people familiar with the matter. For nonproduction suppliers, Tesla is paying on time about 80% of the time, the people said.
It is not at all unusual for companies to ask suppliers for year over year price reductions---but asking for actual cash paybacks is a new one on me.

I've read a couple of things questioning Elon Musk's current mental stability.

I certainly hope that is not the case.

I agree, but if I worked for him I'd be looking at my options

Musk is publicly imploding. Sad to watch. The taxpayers have billion$ invested in his businesses.

There is no doubt that Elon Musk is a “mover & shaker” as an industrialist in numerous endeavors and innovative in his space ventures, but the guy has some real weird streaks. I have not been keeping up with his love life, but apparently I missed that he has taken up with a young singer on the weird side too who goes by the single name “Grimes.” They just had a baby together they named...”X Æ A-12.”

Grimes revealed how the happy couple came to name the poor child that mash of symbols.

...The 32-year-old singer confirmed that she and boyfriend Elon Musk have named their baby boy X Æ A-12 on Tuesday. In a tweet, Grimes — whose birth name is Claire Boucher — broke down the eccentric moniker for fans and explained its meaning down to the last letter.
"X, the unknown variable," the new mom wrote.
"Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence)," Grimes continued, before sharing that a part of her son's name is a nod to the CIA's Lockheed A-12 reconnaissance plane. "A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent."
Grimes added that the "A" in the name also represents "Archangel" — which she said is her "favorite song" — while the number "12" stood for the Chinese zodiac sign of the rat. (According to the Chinese zodiac, 2020 is the Year of the Metal Rat.)...

Oh, btw, last week I spotted a headline of an article I did not read, which said Musk had announced he was selling all his personal possessions. Maybe he is pairing down to make that trip to Mars he is planning.

I have a completely different take on Musk. He is by far my "favorite" CEO of the current era. I give him a standing ovation every time he rebels against the PC bull**** that permeates corporate boardrooms.

And while he isn't pissing off the status quo, he is developing cutting edge technical manufacturing capacity so he can build tunnels, EV's, and rockets so he can ship himself to Mars. Which he will do.

And the guy DID all that stuff, and didn't just talk about it. Remarkable.. Musk isn't imploding, he lapped your imagination.

Your take, Curt, is not so different from my own, but I was remarking on the yang of his yin personality, and you have to admit his has got some weird to go with the genius part. Recall the episode when he dumped on one of the guys who saved the kids in Thailand caught in the cave calling him a pedophile. Got himself sued for that one; and then there’s those stock manipulation press releases that got him removed from the CEO position at Tesla. I love watching his moves, but naming your kid gibberish?
