She was the real deal. So much more than that, but my first vision of her is singing “Think” in The Blues Brothers movie.

Incidentally, her husband in that scene, Matt ‘Guitar’ Murphy, a blues legend in his own right, died in June. John Lee Hooker, who sang his great Boom, Boom, Boom in the scene right before Aretha’s, died in 2001. The Blues greats are disappearing making way for new ones.
