Ghost Guns — Build Your Own 3D Versions In Your Garage

“Crypto-Anarchist” beats back U.S. State Department for right to publish his plans on the ‘net to build 3D handguns and other types. The cat is out of the bag. It started with a bulky single-shot plasticy thing just 4 years ago. Things have changed rapidly —

    https://ijr.com/2018/07/1109119-3d-g...rt-settlement/

Check out the video. Any gun-grabber viewing this just had a stroke. Any serious criminal had an orgasm. Some people in the middle are intrigued. They say a $1600 programmable milling machine is now on sale to use an open program on the ‘net to build as many 1911’s as you want from raw stock material, if I heard that correctly! No serial numbers required. I assume it would be virtually as viable to build fully automatic weapons as easily even if possession would be illegal without the proper certificate.

Dave, expect a call from Dork to help get him started...

I’m not saying the development is a good turn, only that it exists.

The settlement this week is only the first step, and Wilson's business model goes well beyond handguns. And he has the financial backing to take that model all the way — and take gun control down with him.
No gun control at all, yea that will work.

Do you really want the MS-13’s of the world popping out automatic firearms in their ratty apartments? Let’s think about this.

Seriously......you can have the strictest gun control in the world and criminals will have guns.....does not matter what state, time zone, space zone does not matter if it's in a country 100% surrounded by a moat and 100 miles of water.....criminals will get or make guns....

And when they don't, they have acid, knives, screwdrivers, kitchen knives and forks.......

Look at England, its illegal for a minor to buy silverware with a knife, it's illegal to walk around with a screwdriver....it;s almost illegal to defend yourself if your attacked......no, when your attacked is more like it.....

Laws are to protect the innocent and to be uses against those who step outside the societal norms breaking these laws....

Personally gun laws need to go away, anybody at any age can legally carry a handgun anyplace....criminals do, why can't those who also go to these places...why is it only criminals get to carry guns....let everybody if they ant to....

Aside from some one maiming themselves when one of these things blow up, I really don't see the problem. It is already legal to manufacture guns for your own use. None of these have a serial number and they are not tracked in any way. What's the difference?

I think to allow the ability to make 3D printed guns should be illegal and I don't really give a damn about what all you Hawks think about my opinion. It's ridiculous absolutely ridiculous.

It may be crude today, but in a short time 3D guns will approach or equal quality firearms produced commercially. In fact, I predict they will be produced economically by commercial interests. Know that at least one outfit has successfully produced 3D rocket engines proving high quality metallurgy is possible with the technology, which inevitably gets cheaper.

Methinks most of the worries about 3-D printed guns come from the media hype around this. Especially the "news" that you can 3-D print an AR-15. You can't. You can make many of the parts, but not a complete weapon that functions.

First, how many criminal type folks are going to buy a computer and a 3-D printer to make a single shot gun when they can buy a multi-shot, semi-automatic gun for less money on the street? Or, just do it the old fashioned way and steal one?

Now, what you can do is buy an 80% completed AR-15 lower receiver and complete the milling at home on your drill press. Buy the rest of the parts off the 'net and assemble a completed AR-15. Completely legal, no serial number, no paper work required. You can do the same with a few other firearms. But, again, why? It is a lot easier for Sam the hit man to buy or steal a nice factory made firearm. One that is likely to function without problems.

Here are a couple of articles without the media hype:

A case in point of just plain stupid media hype. BTW, this comes from Fox News:

In many parts of the U.S., weapons are already cheap and easily attainable. But 3D printing will likely make it easier for terrorists, homegrown dissidents and lone-wolf attackers to print weapons in locations where they are currently prohibited such as schools, government buildings and airports.
Really? Terrorists, dissidents and lone-wolf types are going to go to a school, government building or an airport, set up shop, 3-D print a weapon and attack? With a single shot weapon? Really?

Also on Fox today they had a short clip of some Congress critter yakking about how these guns will be undetectable and one could just waltz on a plane without anybody noticing. Well part of that may be true, but the bullets themselves will damn sure set off alarms. If they start printing 3D bullets, I will make sure I am not standing anywhere close when that bomb is fired.
