Have eaten on Fisherman's Wharf in Monterrey and that was superb, slap ya mmma good....and sounds like tomorrow is Cannery Row in Monterrey for breakfast, the aquarium and then supper.....

Moving from the Naval Institute to the Presidio of Monterey so will also be closer, but in Army quarters and they can't compare to the Navy here....this place is historical and beautiful.....Started life as Hotel Del Monte in 1880 https://library.nps.edu/hotel-del-monte

Come to think of it, I was remembering Monterey rather than Carmel. Duh!
That was the first place we ever had crème brûlée and our tastebuds shouted for joy.

I spent 6 years teaching Scuba Diving in Monterey and diving for fun in Big Sur. I had a house at the beach in Aptos at the North end of Monterey bay for 20 years, then a house up in the Redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains for 10 where I worked as a firefighter. Now I live in the east bay out in the wine country, been here for 6 years. So yeah I know what you mean about living here.

Was wondering if you lived around here....that explains much.......

Sisters husband was born and aisd here & he has stories of the Santa Cruiz beach in high school & boardwalk when it was 1/4 of what it is now. Seems the population has just gotten out of control......took us forever to get to Big Sur with the construction and traffic.

But not much south of it to the closure.....

This is why we stay in the cheaper clean/safe hotels, quality food is not cheap, but worth every penny.......

    Now to make reservations.......

Yeah... A few short miles from one of my all time favorite wineries. Fenestra, 83 Vallecitos Rd, Livermoe, CA 94550... They only make ~8000 cases a year. It's "un-obtaneum" here in Texas. I have to have it shipped in at $50/bottle...

In livermore the wife really likes Steven Kent Winery, the 3 Steves, and Concannon Wineries. It is nice having 50 wineries within 15 miles of our house

Picked up 6 bottles of wine from Fenestra, saw the Hornet, hit SF, Ghirardelli square, Army fort under the golden gate and ran away to half moon bay and back to Monterrey.....

Sort of getting my toes wet for driving in SF, the will refuses, was in shock with as how steep the roads are......

    Already planning return trip..........
