Not good news or some of our friends here

It appears that a twenty-eight-year-old upstart candidate has defeated the fourth ranking Democrat in the House of Representatives tonight in New York. She is an avowed socialist and it's pretty much Bernie Sanders on steroids. If that's the direction that the Democratic party is going to take going forward you're going to get four more years of trump added to his first four years . Sorry to share the bad news

I agree----and it moves the two sides further apart. Despite my time spent in NY I don't know a lot about Crowley--other than at 20 years he was long overdue to leave--but I don't see this as a good alternative.

I haven’t looked into it, but assume this is a safe D’rat district and hir (I think that is the proper pronoun in newspeak) will be elected.

I guess that "blue wave" also works on old candidates as well. Over confidence has brought down many a good person. It is silly to think that a socialist could win any election here in America, but I guess the left has raised a generation of fools. What are universities teaching these kids anyway, do they not know the history behind socialism? Maybe they should take a guided year long tour of Venezuela or Puerto Rico.

I’m still trying to wrap my [ small ] mind around the difference between a true socialist and a democratic socialist.

Tiny differences between all species of collectivist. They are all statists separated by degrees upon how much they want or will accept the state to control and intrude on individuals’s lives.

I asked myself about socialism a couple of months ago and decided to learn about it. There are a bunch of socialistic governments and they are as screwed up as anything else. There are so many levels of it that they are constantly at war about what level and what to include. It was "Invented" to combat individualism and usually ends up at some level of communism. I got the impression that communism wasn't politically correct so they just changed the name. I actually don't remember what came first just wanted to throw fifty words out there to cover the thousands it takes to explain, were it possible. What Joe said.

Both really depend on which side of the fence you are on. If you are allowed to shop in the better stores and have a better home and auto, it is great. If you are shooping in stores where they may or may not have but one item, have a bare cheap apt and use the transit system, if it is running, it sucks.

Sadly the little snot nosed kids wanting socialism to come here will find themselves on the wrong side of the fence. In order to have the good stuff, you actually have to be useful to the ones in charge. Being good at protesting and complaining will garner you a job picking fruit in the fields. Oh and they will not allow them to protest or complain any more either.

Socialism is for people who have nothing against waiting in lines, not for me.
