What’s Your Favorite Store Bought Ice Cream

OK, the thread title was a come-on so I could hawk my new discovery — H.E.B. in my town is carrying a new specialty brand of ice cream in the little pint cartons and one of their flavors is Bing Cherry & Pistachio. Zowie, it’s good. The pistachios are full size and lots of ‘em. The brand is named SWOON.

I don’t know how far & wide this brand has gotten, as it is made here in San Antonio, but it may be near you.

Now, you can tell us your favorite ice cream indulgence.

I have not heard of SWOON ice cream, but I will look the next time I to the store. I went to Kroger today mostly to get the new flavor of Blue Bell - Southern Blackberry Cobbler but they didn't have it yet.

I like just about all Blue Bell, can you really have bad ice cream? Actually I still crave the homemade peaches and cream we use to hand crank in the summer.

Exactly 4.8 miles from the cottage.

Open year around, the ice cream is made in a room behind the store. All told it is about 30' x 30'. Flavors change with the seasons based on what is available at the time.

On a summer evening it can be difficult to find space in the parking lot. It is easy to tell someone new---they are the only ones with a "large" as they come out with an incredulous look on their face.

Blue Bunny ice cream is the very best store brand Ice Cream in the world, nothing is better when you are forced to go to a commercial ice cream factory......

Wells Enterprises, Inc. is an American food company and is the largest family-owned and managed ice cream manufacturer in the United States, based in LeMars, Iowa. It is the maker of Blue Bunny ice cream. Wikipedia

Blue Bell is not bad, but it's not nearly as good as Blue Bunny........

Local "home" made varies by region and even what part of a town your in, some want more butter fat, some want less, what kind of flavors, what do they add to the mix and what kind of mix do they use....

https://www.sweetactionicecream.com/ is my favorite "local" ice cream, it's blend of flavors and mix is great and it's got enough butter fat without being excessive...stranahan's whiskey brickle is my go to.....

I bought some more of the Swoon™️ Cherry/Pistaccio and figured out it is an H.E.B. branded product, so I’m betting it can only be found there. I also found some H.E.B. Creamy Creations Peach Cobbler which is awesome too.

Yesterday our neighbor stopped in with a quart of homemade maple syrup

This evening we will go to our ice cream store down the road, bring back some of that homemade ice cream and dribble maple syrup over it

Was it made in your neighborhood? I am curious because I am not aware of maple syrup from that area. The process and the product intrigues me.
