Have a sister in Santa Cruz and it's been eons since we have seen each other....

Thinking about shooting across 10 into LA & taking the 101 north......

From there who knows.....I'm still in shock about driving into Calif....

Head to San Diego and take the 5 up the coast... If you have the time.

Time is one thing we have ton of....want to stay as close to the coast as possible, fresh air, sea breezes....fresh fish/seafood, fruit and veggies....

Plan is to hit the Navy base & stay on Coronado Island in Navy billeting on day 1....(drive from Chandler to San Diego) the day 2 to find 101 and drive up the coast...alternating between 101 and 5 as needed....then hitting highway 1 and taking that up Capistrano somewhere to just north of Point Mugu State Park & staying at the Navy base there.....would love to hit the USS Midway and USS Iowa...if possible...then taking 1/101/PCH up the coast to Vandyland (they have 2 scheduled rocket launches in July, but no dates yet) right outside Lompoc.

Then day 3 is up the PCH/1/101 whatever the most scenic/famous way is to Monterey, want to hit that one real famous high bridge, big sur, the typical tourist trap places us landlocked thugs always see in movies and such while eating tons of fresh seafood.....

Will be spending 2 days in Monterey thanks again to the US Navy & the Naval Postgraduate School....and from there it's off to..Santa Cruz, just have to find a place to stay & then San Fran. No idea what to see/do in San Fran, keep telling the wife I'm taking her to Folsom Street for some quality leather....but have yet to figure out where to stay, what parts of San Fran are best to stay & such.

From San Fran we are thinking it's off to 80, Sacramento, Reno and points east....

Head to San Diego and take the 5 up the coast... If you have the time.

I use to sail out of Shelter Island in San Diego a lot and always hit The Brigantine. They have excellent Calamari.
