    Dan...

I was notified this morning by his sister, Sylvia, that Dan Harbaugh passed away Thursday night...She said he had a heart attack Wednesday, and was due to be released from the hospital back to hospice care, but never made it home...I've got Heidi's cell phone number and will attempt contact to see if there's any way I can help...Dan was 90 for those who didn't know...I'll update with any details as I hear them...

    I miss you already, Dan...R.I.P......Ben

He did that for sure, and definitely went his own way...For those who don't know, I was Dan's editor and proofreader for many, but not all of his books...In the past few years his vision had deteriorated to the point where I don't think he could read my corrections anymore, so they went to print as is...I'm proud to have many of his books in their various versions on a bookshelf...

    He was a unique individual......Ben

I just talked to Dan's daughter, Heidi, who says they are adjusting to the loss...From my own recent experience I know how unusual it is to suddenly not have to do the many things we might have become accustomed to, such as bringing the morning coffee or adjusting bed pillows or just making sure a person isn't lonely during the day...

Knowing Dan was never the hearts-and-flowers type, I asked Heidi if there was a charity to which those interested might make a donation...She said Dan liked the SPCA since they were responsible for some of the rescue dogs that filled his home...I'll make a donation here to the local animal shelter since I know they are always hard pressed for funds......Ben

RIP Dan, I enjoyed the flight and made the best of it. Dan was sure one of a kind and brought much sunshine to those around him.

Wow, what can one say about Dan? Without a doubt, he is the most remarkable man I have ever met. He lived more in his life than most people can even dream about, much less actually do. Fly free, Dan. Rest in Peace.

I damn near missed this. Dan was my idol and often wondered how he was doing. Thank you Ben for the info and now I'm thinking your a great replacement.

Not sure if one would ever believe a movie about Dan's life. To say he led a full life would be an understatement.

RIP Dan. You will be missed.

I think he may have anticipated all the doubters, Fred...That may be why he saved every scrap of paper or card connected with his career(s)...He had documentation to prove every wild tale......Ben

I never doubted him...at least what he recounted as his adventures.
